Only A Dimmable Digital Ballast Gives You Complete Control Over Your GardenThe ACME Hydroponics dimming switch enables you to run your digital ballast at the power level you need. You may choose to select a lower wattage setting for when your plants are in their early stages of growth. Then increase your light output for blooming or to harden off your plants for transplant outdoors. Complete control over your power usage enables you to decrease your electricity bill and reduce the amount of heat that's generated in your garden. Controlling the power to your ballast as your garden grows and demands more light can save you a substantial amount of money on your power bill over the length of your crop cycle.
The ACME 1000 Polaris ballast is programmed for a 'soft start' and does not require an initial power surge to light your lamp. The 'soft start' feature reduces the amount of stress that is placed on your ballast and lamp thus extending their useful life. ACME's 'soft start' technology also allows you to start multiple ballasts at the same time without tripping breakers because it prevents the initial power surge.
The ACME 1000 Polaris has a power factor of 99.9% which is the most stable output frequency of any digital ballast available and delivers a significantly higher lumen output than core and coil (magnetic) ballasts.

ACME Hydroponics' Superior Cooling FeaturesThe output of a core and coil (magnetic) ballast degrades over time and can fluctuate significantly over a 12 hour cycle versus a digital ballast which produces a constant and reliable energy output. To ensure safe operation, the ACME 1000 Polaris is programmed to automatically shut off in case of a short through wiring or a faulty or missing lamp.
The ACME 1000 Polaris uses a resin-sealed case for a completely silent operation without the use of a noisy fan that may be prone to failure. (If you purchase a ballast that is dependent on a fan for its cooling system and the fan breaks, then vital components of your ballast run the risk of overheating and being destroyed.) In addition, the large openings required for a fan cooled ballast allows dust and debris to enter the unit exposing it to corrosion and potential malfunction.
